William Harvey - Chance Art

Hello...

My aim is to use rewards-based crowdfunding to help springboard an unusual form of conceptual art photography.

The photographic images in the slideshow video were not devised, but discovered by chance - the result of mixing and staining tissues and wipes with resins, soil, dust and cleaning liquids thrown into toilet water (not flushed) and then photographed in RAW format on a semi-pro Canon EOS M100 camera. Minimum adjustments were then made in Lightroom and countless pixels were removed / cloned to enhance only the source image.

I have no formal training in visual art and a hobbyist when it comes to photography – it started from a ‘random’ sighting of an image in a clogged toilet shot on a 5 megapixel phone camera - but I’m fascinated by seeing an image appear as a painting from simply replacing the easel with a toilet, the canvas with a tissue and the paint with a marking, that with enough images my intention is to produce a self-published eBook to add to the concept of chance art.

Donations will cover the purchasing of a higher resolution camera (Canon EOS 90D) and lenses, a professional-grade monitor, fine art paper and ink cartridges (for Canon ImagePROGRAF Pro-1000), as well as the cost of self-publishing. If the target donation is exceeded the funds will be used to build a bespoke website.

To achieve my financial target I am offering to post a source image print to donors in exchange for a contribution of £25 (£10 for additional prints), or equivalent currency with free shipping worldwide from the UK.
