William Henry Belpitt, awarded US Medal Of Honor, in 1884.
Donation protected
My name is Pam Lewis, in Fremantle, Australia, great granddaughter of William Henry Belpitt, who is that rare Australian to have been be awarded a U.S. Medal of Honor, equivalent of our Victoria Cross, while serving with the U.S. Navy in China in 1884. Now, 112 years after his death in 1912 at the age of 52, the U.S. Medal of Honor Society is arranging with Rookwood Cemetery in Sydney for placement of an appropriate official plaque. He is currently buried in an unmarked grave. This page seeks to cover the costs of the plaque, placement, associated expenses. We are grateful to the Medal of Honor Society for their work on this.
