Fundraising Campaign in Honour of William Hunt

Donation protected
This GoFundMe is a tribute to William James Lloyd Hunt, born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on August 09, 2001. On July 10, 2023, near Billings, Montana at the age of 21, William departed this world and the night sky gained another star. After an adventure-filled summer in Colorado, a single-vehicle accident led William to St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings Montana where he was treated with the utmost care before passing the afternoon of July 10th. At the time of his passing, by the grace of God, William was surrounded by his father (Jamie), mother (Heidi), sister (Sydney) and grandfather (Jim). His family is forever grateful for the gift bestowed on them to hold him, hug him and kiss him in his final hours.

William, Willy, Will, Canada, Wills, Willy-Too-Slow, is honoured as a son, a brother, and a loyal friend. He was an adventurer beyond compare who took life by the horns and left nothing unsaid and nothing unfelt. Fearless and strong are words that come to mind when you remember this traveller, followed quickly by kind, loving and gentle. Above all, William loved to laugh and never left a room without joy for too long.

In lieu of flowers, these contributions are being gathered to support William’s unexpected expenses and costs incurred in the efforts and process of bringing Willy home to Calgary. Excess funds will be allocated amongst LifeCenter Northwest and the uKnighted Fund. More information about each of these organizations is below. There is the utmost confidence that your support in this project will lead to a very successful fundraising drive in Williams' name. The thank you from William’s still-beating heart is immense and unwavering.

LifeCenter Northwest: As a registered and passionate organ donor, all of William’s major organs, tissues and corneas were gifted to recipients across the United States. As in life Willy gave all he had, as in death nothing was taken that was not given with an open, honest and brave heart. The compassionate people at LifeCenter Northwest not only cared for William's gift in the most honourable way but wrapped William’s family in their tender embrace during an impossible week. William would have been grateful to see his people taken care of in the way that they were. His family is forever indebted to those who had a hand in touching their lives in this way. Your contribution to this organization will help bring peace to families praying for miracles in their own lives across the country.

uKnighted Fund: William had the pleasure of growing up in the Lake Bonavista Hockey Association (now known as the Knights Hockey Club). The uKnighted Fund supports families in need of financial assistance during the hockey season. This fund is used towards the many different expenses incurred for families who have children in Canada's favourite sport, including but not limited to registration fees, equipment costs and team activities. Willy would love to know that more kids are hitting the ice (and being hit on the ice) this season because of your generous contribution to his honour.

William's impact will be forever remembered both in the lives and hearts he touched in his time on earth and in the selfless gift of his organs given with a loving and honest heart at the time of his passing.
