William Prentice - The Old Legs

In July I will be traversing 3000km of African dirt roads, riding a mountain bike from Zimbabwe to Uganda to raise money and create awareness for the most destititute, beleaguered and indigent people of Zimbabwe.  I will be riding with a group of 10 middle aged social mountain bikers aptly named The Old Legs who raise funds each year by peddling their bicycles somewhere ridiclously far away.  This year The Old Legs start in Zimbabwe and heads North through Zambia, Tanzania, Rwanda and on to Uganda's Impenetrable Forest, home to the gorillas and hence The Silverback Tour.  The Silverback Tour will be on the road for 3000km and 30 days, climbing thousands of meters while riding through some of Africas wildest and most rugged terrain.  I will be fundraising for ZANE (Zimbabwe A National Emergency) a US based charity incorporated in Florida.  There are also branches in the UK and Australia.  ZANE focuses on;
- 2600 elderly retirees who have lost their pensions and savings through         
   economic collapse and hyperinflation.
- Educational projects to help women who have been the victims of political 
   violence.
- School fees and educational projects for children living in poverty.
- A clubfoot program treating and curing 1500 children to date.
I feel a particularly strong emotional connection to this project as I am originally from Zimbabwe and ask for your consideration in donating for a cause that relies almost entirely on outside funding.
