Boomer's Family
My niece lost her husband Boomer on June 20, 2020. He had served in the Military stationed in Ft. Benning as well as Ft. Carson,
deployed overseas and honorably discharged. Upon returning home, Boomer met my niece Jenna while living in Colorado.
They got married and welcomed in their Beautiful son Silas in January 2020.
Boomer was making a new career for himself working fulltime and also attending Daytona State College.
He was on the Dean's honor's list with a 3.5 GPA and he was excited to become a Radiology Technician & to help others.
He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, friend and Daddy.
He had an amazing contagious smile and a generous and giving heart, and he truly encouraged others to follow thier passions and to
reach for the stars and to obtain their goals in life!
My niece recently shared a story about Boomer and his giving ways. They were coming out of a grocery store and Boomer noticed a homeless
couple sitting off in the corner in the parking lot. Without any hesitation, he grabbed one of the cases of water, and some non parisable food
items and walked over to give it to them. There are countless others stories and times he displayed this geniune and generous quality and many have been on the receiving end of his giving nature over his short time with us.
On a daily basis he also worked towards his own self improvement for himself and his family.
Unfortunately, Boomer also suffered from PTSD from his time in the military. He was stuggling and battling his depression , but he was also
actively seeking help and guidance with his VA counselor.
But behind that contagious smile, that giving heart and nature, was a deeper internal struggle taking place and coming home for Boomer
now meant the real fight of his life. The battle called PTSD. Boomer lost his fight on June 20th, 2020.
Boomer was only 29 years old.
My niece Jenna, now begins the process of having to move forward without her husband, best friend & soulmate and begins to navigate the
difficult days and nights that are ahead of her.
I started this fundraiser because Boomer was their sole source of income. He wanted to allow my niece, a 1st time Mom, to stay at home
with their son Silas in these early developmental months and enjoy all the blessings that this brings.
Jenna returned to work yesterday in the field that she loves as a Veterinarian Assistant at a a new clinic that opened in her area that specializes
in orthopedic surgery and rehab for cats and dogs. Currently, she can only return 3 days a week at this time as the clinic is new, and building up patients etc. Her monthly income will not cover all her monthly expenses as she now takes on full responsibility of the mortgage, car, utilites,
baby needs and basic essentials.
We are waiting to see what the VA will provide towards benefits and assistace, but they have said it may take 3, 4 or even up to
5 months before she will know if shes approved or denied. The VA has a lengthy process and it must be considered “service related”
in order for her to qualify- As you can imagine, there is much red tape to get through, and they are also understaffed due to Covid, so we
wait for the process to take it's course and pray the wheels start to turn a little faster in the weeks ahead.
I cannot stop the grieving process Jenna will travel through, but maybe I can help her by easing some worry over the next few months
and try to relieve a little pressure and financial worry from her.
Just Maybe.
As her Aunt, I want to do whatever I possibly can to help her and Silas.
So I ask you,....will you consider helping Jenna and Silas by making a donation? No amount is Too Small, as every dollar counts.
I understand if you are not able to, times are tough for many right now, but would you please be so kind to take a moment and just share this link within your circle of friends, groups and pages to help me gain more exposure?
It is truly deeply & greatly appreciated and I thank you for taking the time read this request!
The Number 22 - The Military Suicide Awareness #22ADAY Movement
Did you know the average is 22 young military veterans, take their lives each day.?
The number 22 has become a rallying cry, a scream if you will, for veterans and advocates trying desperately trying to call attention
to suicide and suicide awareness. with our Veterans.
We need to help provide more resources for them when they come home & take off their uniforms.
To help them transition and integrate back into their new lives because the adjustment can be very challenging, and many like Boomer,
struggle everyday with post -traumatic stress, depression and a combination of other disabilites .
We cannot continue to lose these amazing young men & woman- I truly had no idea before Boomers passing about 22 aday.
What I refer to now as "The Quiet Crisis" 22 are gone every single day to suicide.
NOW I KNOW
Please help bring more awareness. You just may help save a life!
