William's YWAM Mission’s Trip

For quite a few years, I have felt a general calling towards full-time missions/ministry, and for the last 9 months I’ve felt the Lord stirring in my heart to take the next step in that calling by going to a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with an organization called Youth With A Mission (YWAM)!  After praying and laying some fleeces before the Lord, I applied to YWAM’s school in Salem, Oregon, and was accepted! Lord willing, I will be heading out on January 3rd for this 6-month DTS!

A DTS is a 6-month missions school with the goal of knowing God and making Him known. It consists of two 3-month phases: lecture phase and outreach phase. Lecture phase is 3 months focused on classroom learning, community bonding, and heart change. Outreach phase is 3 months of bringing the Gospel around the world. One of the things I’m really excited about is that we don’t actually know where we will be going during the outreach phase. During the three months of lecture phase, we will spend persistent time in prayer asking the Lord where He wants us to go and what He wants us to do!

I am very excited for this opportunity to commit these 6 months to seeking the Lord!  As I’ve been praying for this trip and trying to prepare my heart, I believe God is calling me to a place of deeper surrender and intimacy with Him, which leaves me both I am praying for breakthrough in areas of my life that I know need to be surrendered to the Lord.

The goal is for me is to raise an additional $6,800 beyond what I have already raised and saved up. This would cover room/board, transportation, airfare, and the technical costs of the outreach trips. But beyond me, there are a number of students coming to this DTS from third world countries, and I know raising the necessary funds for them will be an even greater challenge. Because of that, my prayer is that the Lord will bless me to be able to raise more than my goal so that I can give as much as possible to help those students.
