For those of you that know William Barnett, you understand that when you look up the epitome of crazy in the dictionary, you will find his name next to it… But you also know that he most undoubtedly has a heart the size of Texas. My Uncle Billy knows a lot of people and I am more than certain he has brightened their lives in any way possible. If there were a quote to explain Billy, it would be best said by John Bunyan, “ You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you ”. He devotes his life to being happy, but making sure that everyone around him is happy first. There is not a fine line between family and friends to him, everyone is his family, and you never for one second feel like you are not when you spend a day with Billy.
For those of you that don’t know, Billy has always been in the cattle industry, his mother, was named Texas Cattle Woman of the year a few years ago. But with his crazy drive to endure life, he was always seizing to find new adventures. He became a stock contractor for Professional Bull Riders association and ventured out to many bull team competitions, PBR rodeos, and many bull riding events throughout the US. He traveled every weekend doing what he loves with the people he loves.
Billy decided to put on his first event, a Bulls and Barrels blowout where it benefited the Texas Association of First Responders. That day was not his lucky day, he experienced every stock contractors worst nightmare, while in the back separating bulls, one got him down. He had bleeding in his chest, ribs detached from his diaphragm, a rib resting on his aorta and diaphragm, one lung collapsed while the other one was partially collapsed, and many other injuries along with these major ones. He has had to undergo four surgeries, and he has been in the hospital since May 6th, and will not be leaving anytime soon.
It is now our opportunity to help Billy and his family, it is our time to show him that he is OUR family.
