William's Wheelchair Fundraiser

Meet William! This cheerful little five-year-old was born with an incredibly rare genetic disorder that will impact him for the rest of his life. In his short life, he’s had more than a dozen surgeries, countless trips to BC Children’s Hospital, and years of physical therapy. He’s the bravest little boy and has made it through all these challenges with a smile on his face.

Unfortunately, William’s rare condition will never improve. As a result, his specialists have now said he’ll need to be fitted for a wheelchair.

Providing the necessary care for a special needs child isn’t easy. William’s parents now have just one income, as his mother has had to give up her job to care for him full-time. They spend thousands of dollars every year on physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy. More recently, they’ve had to renovate their home to accommodate his needs. And if that’s not enough, they just had to upgrade their old vehicle for one that’s large enough to handle a wheelchair. It’s a lot for any family to handle.

But the expenses keep coming. Now, they need to get their vehicle fitted with a seat that will allow William to transfer in and out of his wheelchair.

William’s parents aren’t the type to ask for help. That’s why their friends, family, and community are coming together to assist them with fundraising! The cost of this vehicle system isn’t covered by BC’s medical programs. Can you help us by donating towards William’s wheelchair transfer system?
