Beyond the medical demands of his pandemic, this is a hard time for our dear Berkshire County, which relies on visitors economically.  Inspired by our teammates and fellow Ephs starting the Williams for Williamstown (W4W)  COVID-relief effort, we decided to pitch in as a team.   W4W has started in this crisis with a simple mission: keep Berkshire County restaurants going by raising money to buy healthcare workers good food.   Read more about the work W4W has already done and plans to do on their Instagram: @WilliamsforWilliamstown

On May 9 and May 30, some members of our team will do solo time trials to make up for the track season that never was.  Read about our goals below, and please consider supporting us supporting W4W!

Emily '20: My plan is to run my first “official” half marathon on 5/30! My OG life goal was to run a half marathon race after graduation but alas - no graduations and no races are to be found in the near future.  And I have a fundraising goal of $407, which is exactly 100 16 oz peppermint mochas from tunnel.

Brianna '21: Hey folks! On May 9th, I’ll enjoy running a head-dizzying 12.5 laps around a track (or it could be a 5k on the road), hopefully in under 18:40 which would—under normal circumstances—qualify me to the big dogs DIII New England’s meet. But more importantly, I’m also striving to raise $500 for W4W, which could pay for One! Hundred! Eighty! Tunnel muffins! Woot woot!

Caroline '21: Since I never got the chance to debut in the 10k this season, I want to run my first 10k (on the roads, but maybe by then the track will be open again...) at the second time trial and hopefully run the D3 NE standard — which was my original goal for the season. I’m gonna set a $500 goal for myself, which hopefully will get plenty of chicken wraps from dirty muntos :). I haven’t been training as of late, but I do think giving myself a monthlong goal of just a debut in an event I’ve never done before is something that sounds like something great to work for personally... added bonus that I get to raise money doing it!!!!

Chris '21: I am working to raise $1,000+ and run a 32:00 10k.  $1k is enough to buy 62.5 buffalo chicken pizzas from The Log (my favorite Williamstown take-out), and a 32:00 10k would be a best time of over a minute and respectable for a NESCAC runner!

Elizabeth '21: Hello! On the good day of May the 9th, I'll be running the 3k! 15:00 or under would be nice, but I'm not all that attached to a time. The bigger goal, though, is to also raise $500, which buys just over 40 paid thais from Blue Mango

Jaylan '21: My goal is to bike 100 miles (potentially to somewhere cool if that's an option) on the 30th.  $750.

Will '21: I’ll be running a 10k on May 9th! Hoping it can be on a track but we shall see. Really don’t have a great sense of where I’m at right now so a time goal is kind of hard to set, but whatever I do I definitely want to start slower and feel strong in the back half. I’d also love to raise $500 for W4W!

Sam '22: For my personal challenge, I will be running my first marathon on May 7th. I’ve never run anything that long before, so I’m not putting a time goal on it. We’ll see what happens! Also, I will be trying to raise $500 for our fundraiser!

S.J. '22: I am hoping to run a 10k (hopefully on the track, hopefully in around 39 minutes) on May 9th and a half marathon on May 30th (no time goal, but I want to try the distance!) I hope to raise $750, which would be approximately 150 tunnel lattes :)

Reed '23: My goal is to run 10 miles on the 30th in under an hour.  $500.
