Willie Lynam's Road to Recovery

On Friday, September 15th my brother-in-law, Willie was hit by a car while riding his bike to work. He is currently fighting for his life in the Trauma ICU at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas. He has multiple life threatening injuries including: a 2 brain bleeds, fractured jaw, broken clavicle, multiple broken and displaced ribs causing his right lung to have lacerations and punctured lung, fractured pelvis, lumbar vertebrae fracture, broken leg, and he had a renal artery laceration that required removing a kidney during surgery. The trauma surgeons for see multiple surgeries once his body is more stable to fix some of these injuries.

Willie has been in a medically induced coma since this accident. He is currently intubated, with sedation and paralytic medicine to allow for his body to recover and to let the breathing machine work to its full potential to allow for his right lung to heal.

A little bit about Willie:

Willie is 34 years old and on the Autism spectrum. He just moved back to Belton, Texas to live with his Mom and Dad. Prior to this, he was working and living in the Grand Canyon. Since moving back to Texas, he had been working at Heritage Foods and rode his bike to work everyday. He has worked very hard to live independently and our hope is these funds will help him.

Unfortunately, since Willie had just started his new job a few months ago, his insurance was 15 days from being active (10/01/2023). His estimated cost of hospital stay and outpatient rehab (PT, OT, etc) exceeds $100,000 at this time.

These funds will go towards his medical care and to help his family support him while he is on his road to recovery.
