Will Young - Eagle Scout Project

My name is Will Young and I am a Life Scout in Troop 846 in Cypress, TX. I have been in Boy Scouts for 10 years, ever since I joined as a Tiger Cub in first grade. I am working to reach my Eagle Scout rank by planning, developing, and leading a project to benefit my church, Bayou City Fellowship.

This is the worship center of Bayou City Fellowship.

Our church recently purchased the property where we meet in Cypress. There is lots of unused land, and I would like to help with the development of part of it. I plan to build a fire pit along with a large surrounding area which will provide an outdoor space for gathering, especially for evening activities. This project will benefit the students as well as the rest of the church members.


This is the area to the right of the worship center where I will build the fire pit/seating area. 


The fire pit area that I build will be similar in style to this one. The circle will be 15 feet across - the fire pit is 5 feet across and the remaining 10 feet will be the seating/gathering area.

My Eagle Scout project will require the following steps: clear the area of grass, level the ground, build an outer brick edge, put down a sand base, build the fire pit, and pour gravel to fill the surrounding area.

Any money donated to my Eagle Scout project will help with the purchase of the following items:

·        Large fire pit kit
·        Pea gravel/drainage rock for the outer seating ring
·        Bricks or landscaping stones for the outer edge
·        Weed blocker fabric
·        Leveling sand
·        Landscape edging
·        Gravel for inside fire pit
·        Concrete adhesive
·        Rental of a tiller and other tools
·        Supplies including tools, stakes, rope, etc.
·        Any other needed items such as refreshments, paper goods, etc.

 
Any money that is donated beyond what is needed for my project will go directly to Bayou City Fellowship Student Ministries.

My goal is to install the fire pit and seating area in late July or early August 2016. This is an ambitious goal, but with your help I can achieve it.  Any amount that you are able to give will help.
