Wiltfong Family Fight to Beat Eric’s Colon Cancer

On Tuesday the 12th, Eric went in for a routine colonoscopy. We never thought we’d hear the words “unfortunately I have some bad news for you guys, you have cancer and it’s advanced”. We are beginning the stages of additional imaging to determine if the cancer has reached other parts of his body. We are scheduled to meet with a specialized team in Arizona with the Cancer Treatment Center of America on the 26th. If any of the preliminary imaging here in Alaska show signs of spreading we will leave immediately and begin treatment to include chemotherapy, radiation and surgery.

Our family is in shock, we’re scared and beyond worried. Eric has a very positive attitude right now and that’s the type of person he is with anything. Eric is the kindest man I’ve ever met, he’s a loving father and a loving papa. It’s hard to ask for help but we know we need it all, prayers, encouragement and financial help to offset the costs of fighting this cancer diagnosis. We are grateful to have insurance but the plan is very basic. We know the road ahead will be a long one and we are grateful for each day, each loved one and all our friends. Eric is only 56 and has so many good things ahead of him, our 2 grandsons, Jackson and Logan, our 5 boys Lance, Conor, Mason, Nolan and Holden and lifetime of good times to be had because Eric does love a good time!

One of Eric’s close work friends told him that “cancer picked the wrong guy to mess with”.
