Help Get Windmills Back Onstage

What happened?
On June 18th Cory Myraas (Windmills) had his MacBook Pro laptop stolen at the Vernon Sunshine Festival. Cory had finished playing a set of songs and a benefit/fundraiser for brain cancer was now happening when his laptop was stolen off the side of the stage. It was taken amidst the excitement of a courageous event, while people cheered and shared in the revelry of a great cause and the memory of a great woman.
Cory on what this means for Windmills:
“This laptop contains everything to do with Windmills, the foundations of my music career, backing tracks, new songs, old songs, all the business side of things, press kits, publicity and promos, simply put: everything.
I had my biographies, tech requirements, stage plot, press photos stemming years back, music files such as new songs and old songs, all of the stems for my songs, these are what I use to duplicate sounds live and build up my sound, adding the parts I cannot recreate solo. It had all of my business files, including taxes, grant submissions, expense accounts, royalty reports and files, plug-ins for Ableton (the live music production program I use), lyrics, video, everything. It's all gone.
If I was handed everything tomorrow, the files for my songs, Ableton, and a laptop it would take a month minimum to rebuild the 15 tracks I've worked tirelessly on for my live shows, originals and covers. Get my branding back in order as it relates to promo and publicity imagery, and get the Windmills machine back up and running.
It will take a lot of time and I currently have to cancel a show on July 1st and more if I can't rectify things sooner than later.”
Unfortunately none of Cory’s files were backed up and thus he is currently unable to keep moving forward as Windmills.
Why we are setting up this campaign
Cory has received an incredible outpouring of support in person and online over the past few days and many people have expressed a desire to help him in any way they can. Myself and a group of Cory’s friends have therefore decided to set up this GoFundMe campaign to give people a chance to donate towards the significant replacement costs he now faces.
I think Cory finds it somewhat difficult to ask for money like this but for those of us who support all the amazing things he does both musically and as a person it is a chance to show whatever support we can after this awful theft. We’ve listed his costs below and even if this doesn’t fund everything, every little bit is a huge help to Cory right now and the sooner he is able to replace his gear the sooner he can get back to supporting himself musically and doing what he loves.
Obviously we are all still hoping Cory’s laptop will be recovered and there still seems to be some hope of that, although as each day passes that may be less and less likely. If it is recovered we will happily refund all donations.
The costs
The goal amount of $3000 is simply based on the price of replacing Cory’s 15” Macbook Pro and the cost of the specific live music production program he uses, Ableton. He will also have to incur other costs including warranty, taxes and a hard drive for backing up his files so he can’t lose everything like this again but those aren’t included in this goal.
15” Macbook Pro - $2,449.00
Ableton production software – $749
A message from Cory:
“If you know me you know that music is my life, and you know how hard I work to make my dreams my reality, however modest it is. This is my livelihood and in an instant it's been taken away. I've had a hard time grappling with the decision to launch a GoFundMe, simply because I'm having a hard time justifying the generosity and support you've all given me, I feel so humbled and important in this community. It's overwhelming to see the videos, the shares on social media, to receive messages from complete strangers offering support, advice, a compassionate ear, and donations.
This was a horrible act of petty crime. But the compassion in the community of artists, friends, friends I haven't spoken to in years, complete strangers, and anonymous well-wishers has vastly overshadowed the bad. There is too much good in this world that doesn't get enough attention and enough credit, you all have given me so much faith in ourselves and have grounded me in humility and gratitude.
This is a slight pause, but in everything I do and like always, windmills keep moving.”

Who am I?
Just in case people are concerned, I've been good friends with Cory for the last 10 or so years and we're setting things up so any donations will be transferred directly from GoFundMe to Cory.
