This is the vision behind Camp Unity & Pride, a sanctuary for LGBTQIA+ youth in Windsor and the surrounding areas. We need your help to bring this dream to life by April 30, 2026. Without your support, many of these remarkable young individuals will be left without a place where they can truly belong.

A Haven for Our Children:

In Windsor, LGBTQIA+ youth face daily challenges that many of us can't even begin to fathom. These children and teenagers often feel isolated and misunderstood. The societal pressures and personal struggles they endure can lead to profound emotional and mental health issues. Currently, there is no summer camp in our region dedicated to providing these young people with the safe and nurturing environment they so desperately need.

This is where Camp Unity & Pride comes in. Our vision is to create a place where LGBTQIA+ youth can come together, free from judgment and discrimination, to explore who they are, build lasting friendships, and develop the confidence to navigate the world as their true selves.

Consider the story of Alex, a 14-year-old who has always felt different but never had the words to express why. Alex faced bullying at school and struggled with anxiety and depression. Alex's family, loving but unsure how to help, sought out community resources and discovered Camp Unity & Pride.

At camp, Alex found more than just acceptance; Alex found a community. Participating in group activities, Alex learned about self-acceptance and resilience. Through counseling sessions, Alex gained tools to manage anxiety and began to thrive. The traditional camp activities like swimming and archery allowed Alex to rediscover joy and excitement. For the first time, Alex felt seen, heard, and valued.

Our Vision and Timeline

To make Camp Unity & Pride a reality, we have a clear and structured plan:

2024: Foundation Building

- August: Launch of the initial fundraising campaign.

- September: Recruitment and training of key staff members.

2025: Community Engagement and Expansion

- January: Community workshops and events to raise awareness and build support.

- March: Launch of mental health support initiatives for LGBTQ+ youth.

- June: Major fundraising gala event to secure additional funds and community backing.

2026: Final Preparations and Launch

- February: Final staff recruitment and comprehensive training programs.

- March: Procurement of camp materials and resources.

- April 30: Achieve the fundraising goal to establish Camp Unity & Pride.

We are on a mission to open our doors by summer 2026, but without sufficient support and funding by April 30, 2026, the camp will not be able to open. Your contribution is vital to ensuring these children and youth have a place where they can thrive.
