Windy Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Robert, I am Windy's older brother. My family and I are raising funds for Windy's medical bills.
Windy was experiencing abdominal pain in late November 2022. At first she thought that simple diet adjustments would help with her discomfort. Unfortunately, the pain continued to increase. She then scheduled appointments with her doctor to see what was causing these issues. They initially said that she was just constipated. The next conclusion was a possible appendicitis. A few days later she would find herself in pain at the emergency room, where an ultrasound was performed along with a CT scan. They discovered fibroids and cysts on her ovaries and one of the cysts was leaking. One week later she returned to the same ER, where they discovered the cyst that was leaking had ruptured. She was told that she would feel better in four to five days.
She was instructed to see a gynecologist. A Pap Smear and several additional tests were performed. They were hoping the tests would provide some clarity as to why she was experiencing so much pain, but the test results all came back negative. After that, she was referred to a gynecologist surgeon, who recommended that a hysterectomy would be the best plan to solve these issues.
The surgery was scheduled for April 3rd where they removed her right ovary, cervix and uterus. After her surgery, she was informed that they did not remove her left ovary to avoid early menopause. They also discovered a small mass on her colon that they believed was just a hematoma and would eventually go away on its own. The next couple weeks she found herself in and out of the ER again due to the pain. However, they still couldn't determine what was causing so much discomfort. They discovered that she had stage four endometriosis and also wanted to perform a biopsy on the mass on her colon. They were moderately confident that the mass would come back with negative results.
Unfortunately, the results of the mass returned and she was informed that she has Cancer. The Cancer is on the remaining ovary where it has metastasized and the mass has now attached to her colon. Her surgery is scheduled for June 9th to remove the remaining ovary, the endometriosis, part of her colon and anything else that the Cancer has spread to. During this procedure they will insert a chemo port. Post Op, she will remain in the hospital for observation and healing. The plan is to start chemotherapy eight weeks after.
Update: 8/4/23
Windy's surgery was successful. She remained in the hospital's care for an additional eight days. Unfortunately, they had to remove more of her colon than they wanted to, but they're optimistic that after 6 to 8 months, they may be able to reattach her colon to her rectum. Until then, she will have to use a colostomy bag.
She has lost a significant amount of weight over the last few months, due to lack of appetite and the severe pain she has endured. Her doctor is very concerned with her weight loss, as chemotherapy weakens your body while it is destroying the Cancer. Windy was diagnosed with stage 3 stomach lining Cancer; her chemotherapy treatment should take about 4-5 months. Over the last month, she has been eating as many calories as she can and her weight has stabilized. She is now beginning to put a little weight back on, but still has several more pounds to gain. Her first chemotherapy appointment is scheduled for Monday August 7th.
At this time, this is all the information we have. Our family thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers. If you are able to offer financial support, you may make a donation through Go Fund Me
God bless and thank you all.
