Windy Duyka Medical Fund

Hi, my name is Brigitte Geer, and I'm starting this fundraiser for my best friend, Windy Duyka. She is not one to ask for help and definitely did not ask me to do this. She had a terrible accident on May 30th that is resulting in extensive medical bills. Here is what happened in her own words:

On my amazing weekend, Mike and I stopped to fish at Tiki island near Galveston. When I went to step up on a boulder/rock my foot slipped and I fell. When I did, my right leg hit the side of this algae covered rock thing and cut it open really really bad. It's a long cut and all the way to my bone. Mike started driving me to the er, but I was in such pain we called an ambulance and they rushed me to the er in Galveston, since they specialize in marine wounds. I was there several hours. They were making sure they flushed it good, called in the ortho surgeon in because of my exposed bone, he said it was a job for a plastic surgeon. They paged the surgeon, an hour later they came in and said the surgeon wouldn't be coming. They were gonna just close it and refer me to a surgeon when I got home. By then my wound had been open for over 5 hours and was severely swollen. My tissue had already started dying off. The Dr stitched it up, stating it was a temp fix. My skin was just being used as a bandage for the moment.

When we got home I contacted a surgeon and had an appointment the very next day.

The surgeon I saw, referred me to a more qualified surgeon to assist. So we made that appointment for Friday (yesterday). When I came for my appointment my infection had spread all the way up my leg and alot more tissue died off. He admitted me immediately to get me on iv antibiotics. And scheduled my surgery for 5 yesterday. In that surgery he went in and cleaned the area, cut the dead tissue and has left it open with a medi vac on it to suck off the fluid and infection. Now we wait for the next surgery, which will probably be Monday. He plans on going in, taking muscle from my calf to cover the bone and skin from my thigh to graph my shin. That's where I'm at right now.....

I felt lead to explain what pain I'm having. Yall I'm really tryna stand firm and know God's the one ultimately in control. And I know He is.

But yall I have never had this kinda medical trauma that is literally affecting my WHOLE life. But I'm trusting in His healing and trusting He is providing all my needs during this time. I'm completely helpless right now and that's not something I'm use to.

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for reaching out to me and praying for me. Please keep them coming, I have a long road ahead of me. I would share the pic but it really gruesome. Lol

When she went to be assessed by a plastic surgeon she was immediately admitted to the hospital because of an infection. Her recovery will be long and very painful. A lot of you who know Wendy know how much she loves God and the way that she serves him. I think it's time that we help our sister in Christ and bear her burdens, that is why I'm writing asking for donations to help her with her medical bills which are piling up by the hour and by the day. Anyone that knows her knows Windy's heart and this is something that she shouldn't have to worry about in this time when she's already dealing with so much.
