Sasha's Wine Bar Shooting Victim
Donation protected
On Saturday evening, 14 September, Chris and Katie went to Sasha’s on Shaw wine bar in St. Louis to celebrate the recent engagement of a friend. They had never been there before but were having a great time catching up with friends and deciding what to order. Just before 10pm, Chris was struck in the face by a bullet as he stood close to the front door at their table with friends. He fell onto the floor before many people in the bar realized what had happened. Many people fled through the back of the bar fearing an active shooter after they heard the gunshots. Thankfully, there were customers in the bar put themselves in danger to help Chris. At least 3 people with medical training rushed to his side and saved his life by providing aid until the ambulance arrived. Those people saved his life without a doubt, and are true angels. We cannot thank them enough for all of their help!
Chris remains in critical condition in the ICU and on a ventilator. He will require multiple reconstructive surgeries. So far he has only been stable enough for one to be completed. The bullet shattered on impact and did significant damage. Since this is all very recent Katie is still working to find out what insurance is going to cover and what Chris’s recovery plan will be.
Everyone is praying for the best possible outcome, however they are going to need some assistance. Many have asked how they can help, so we thought setting this up perhaps was the best way. We want to make sure the kids are taken care of, and Chris and Katie can just focus on trying to cope, and move forward, although no one knows what lies ahead. They could use all of the help, and prayers they can get right now.
At this time the primary need is for living expenses while Chris is in the hospital to allow Katie to stay by his side. The money will also go to cover any medical expenses that are not covered by insurance.
Chris and Katie have been together since high school (20 years) and have 4 children (ages 5, 7, 10 and 15) who are staying with family members while Chris is in the hospital. Katie would like to thank everyone who helped to save Chris’s life and those that have offered their support during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep everyone up to date on his condition, and please know they appreciate ALL of the support from everyone.
At this time, there is no suspect on who committed this horrendous act, but if you or anyone knows anything, please contact Crime Stoppers, you can remain anonymous. (866-371-TIPS).
