Winnebago Two-Spirit Drag Show

Donation protected
Winnebago Two-Spirit is hosting the first drag show to ever occur on Winnebago tribal lands for our 4th Annual PRIDE to be held Friday, June 2, 2023. In the wake of Nebraska’s anti-trans and anti-drag show legislation, it is a powerful act of tribal sovereignty to celebrate Two-Spirit people who have always been here. These colonial forces once again seek to discriminate against Indigenous gender identities. The theme for this year is “Berry Cute Pride.” In the Ho-Chunk language, the word for strawberry is hāscek literally translating to “first fruit.” After a long hard winter, strawberries are the first to bloom and bear fresh fruit for harvest. For this reason, many tribes see strawberries as a symbol of hope and rebirth. Just like strawberries, Two-Spirit/LGBTQ+ people are bright, bold, and sweet: a symbol of hope in their sacred existence. Please help us to pay for the sound system, MC, venue rental, chair rental, decorations, advertising, food, and other things to make this event a success!

There will also be a Color Run (YCIC/Youth Shelter), Volleyball Tournament (HCI), and Kickball Tournament.

The drag show is ALL AGES, and free. Showtime for the “Red and Wild” Drag Show is at 7:00pm at the Land of Wellness.
