Winning Buckingham & Bletchley for Labour

Donation protected
Who am I, and why am I standing?

Hello! It's Callum Anderson here. At the end of February, local Labour Party members picked me to be their parliamentary candidate for the new Buckingham & Bletchley constituency at the next general election. It is the honour of my life and I'm relishing to serve the Party I joined 15 years ago at the age of 18.

My mum raised me alone in a council flat in nearby Dunstable, while she worked shifts in the Leighton Buzzard Morrisons (where she still works after 20 years).

We didn't have much money and times were often a struggle. Despite this, she hardwired in me the principles of hard work, always aiming high, and to never, ever give in.

But I was lucky. I directly benefited from the policies of the last Labour Government: the minimum wage, tax credits record investment in schools, more students from low-income backgrounds going to university than ever before. That's the Britain Labour built, and what inspired me to join Labour. Public service has been at the heart of what I've done ever since.

I'm standing to be Buckingham & Bletchley's next MP for the simple reason that I believe our country has lost its way and can be better that it is right now. Be it as a school governor, a career working in the City of London, a local councillor, or a godfather, I've seen too much opportunity denied, potential unfulfilled and talent unused by people of all backgrounds across Buckingham, Bletchley, Tattenhoe, Winslow and all the villages in between over the past 14 years.

I want to use whatever talents, experience, and skills I have to enable people living in the towns and villages comprising the constituency to lead the lives they've dreamt of. You can read about my priorities for the constituency here.

What am I requesting and for what purpose?

I am lucky to have a hugely supportive team and membership backing me. But while we are enthusiasm-rich, we are cash-poor. My Conservative opponent will be backed by wealthy donors, which is why I am asking you to help me raise (initially) £10,000 to support my campaign.

With your help, my team and I can make history - Sky News analysis has shown that Labour winning this seat is necessary for Keir Starmer to become Prime Minister.

I am fortunate to have already fundraised £15,000. However with an autumn/winter election looking likely, and the Long Campaign beginning on 18 July 2024, candidates might be able to spend up £50,000 before the Short Campaign begins (it could be less - it depends on when the election takes place).

I intend to use the funds in the following way:
  • Reaching £500 means I can produce 10,000 outcards to give to residents during canvass sessions over the summer.
  • Reaching £1,000 means I can also send a personalised letter to every first-time voter at the next election, promoting my candidacy, my priorities for the local area, and the importance of voting (for Labour!).
  • Reaching £3,500 means I can also deliver two separate leaflets to every household in the constituency, promoting my priorities for the whole constituency if elected as the MP over the summer.
  • Reaching £5,500 means I can also send a personalised direct mail to every undecided voter (which we believe is around 10,000 people) promoting my candidacy and my priorities for the constituency.
  • Reaching £7,500 means I can deliver a strong programme of digital and social media advertising (e.g. Facebook and YouTube) to maximise my outreach to voters.
  • Reaching £10,000 and beyond means I can send a further personalised letter to voters who we believe specifically voted Conservative in 2019 but are now open to voting Labour.

For completeness: all funds raised will go directly to the Buckingham & Bletchley Constituency Labour Party for exclusive campaign use.

Thank you for reading and for your support,

Callum
