Winter Campaign 2021
It’s that time of year again – the days get shorter, the temperatures get colder, and our finances are hit harder. Costs of many items and services have already risen (with some still rising), and we’re finding our bank account is more stretched than usual.
Did you know, our yearly vet bill now stands at £53,000, along with a feed bill of £30,000, and our hay & straw prices have increased by 25%
Daily running costs are now at £1,467, up a whopping 20% from last year, and as we get deeper into winter, this will increase significantly.
We’re home to many exotics animals such as reptiles, parrots, and mammals like meerkats, who need heated enclosures. With the price of electricity climbing, we’ll be spending a lot more to ensure these animals are kept warm
As a sanctuary, many of our animals are elderly or suffer from conditions like arthritis and need additional care and sometimes medication to ensure that they’re as comfortable as possible during the cold season
We’re asking for your help to cover the costs of our additional bills over the winter period, when we’re closed to the public, and our income solely relies on donations for 3-4 months. Every penny donated will go directly towards the extra resources required to get us through this winter.
Thank you to each and every one of you for your continued support of the sanctuary – we wouldn’t be where we are today without you
