Winter Drive In Digital Conversion
Donation protected
Help save the Winter Drive-In Theater.
The Winter Drive-In has been entertaining generations of families in the Wintersville / Steubenville community since 1969.
During the 1950s, there were approximately 4063 drive-in theatres in across America. Today only about 325 are still operating.
The Hollywood studios are now forcing the few remaining 35mm film theatres to make a very expensive conversion to digital projection.
Without the conversion to digital projection, the Winter Drive-In will not be able to play any current or future Hollywood releases.
The depressed economic conditions of the area have had a devastating effect on many local businesses. The Winter Drive-In has been no exception.
While we all try to be optimistic, hoping for improvement, we have been financially unable to make the digital conversion.
We’ve recently heard from so many people that love the Winter Drive-In and want it to continue, we’re willing to give it another chance.
We’re not asking for your donations to save our business. We asking for donations to save the Winter Drive-In for the community.
The cost to convert each drive-in screen to digital projection is approximately $75,000.00 per screen.
While we don’t expect to come close to the amount needed to convert all four screens, we hope to do as many as possible in order to open this season.
We realize that we’re getting a late start with GoFundMe, but better late than never.
If everyone would donate as much as possible, we could save the Winter Drive-In for the entire community to enjoy for years to come.
Corporate Sponsorship and Naming Rights are also available for a single screen or the entire Drive In.
( Please email us for details via the gofundme link)
Funds are needed immediately to purchase the equipment and book features for the 2017 summer season.
A GoFundMe account has been started to save the Winter Drive-in for your continued enjoyment.
Any and all donations will help and are greatly appreciated.
