Winter Survival for Camp 413
Donation protected
There is a group of unsheltered neighbours surviving together in an encampment called Camp 413 in downtown Cobourg. They are struggling to stay warm and alive this winter. We have come up with an immediate solution - a winter tent and wood stove that was chosen in consultation with the Cobourg fire department. This solution will cost only $800 per person/couple for a special wood stove tent/ wood stove/ smoke alarm/ fire extinguisher/ash pail and shovel set. We are looking to raise enough money to provide shelter for 25 people/couples as well as a communal tent for a kitchen and others who need a place to stay warm for the night. Our total fundraising goal is: $27,000 (recently increased due to more people in need and purchasing wood through the winter) and I am confident that we can get there if everyone gives what they can. Any amount you can give helps - this is something we can achieve together as regular citizens!
Please note: this fundraising campaign has been organized by Jenni Frenke and Tony Mercieca. We are not associated with any organization, charity or church for this gofundme.
Thank you for your time and the care I know you have in your hearts for our neighbours trying to survive outside tonight. I hope together we can continue to find solutions so that everyone can have a safe and warm place to call their own.
