Winter Weather Causes Barn Roof Collapse

Donation protected
A very bad winter storm that dumped over 8 inches of heavy snow, collapsed part of a 35 yr. old barn roof and displaced the animals living inside.  Three horses, three goats and a few barn cats lived in the barn. None of the animals were hurt - the fire department came out and made sure that we were able to get the horses out safely.

We are fund raising to help in the costs of replacing the roof, all the electric wiring that will need to be redone, the cost of new lumber to fix the inside and the cost of boarding my horses in a new place until their home is fixed, and an outside shelter. We have insurance, but we also have to pay a deductible and don't know at this time if they will pay for the full repairs. We are dedicated to our horses and would like to get them home as soon as we can.

The owners are voluntary board members of a horse adoption organization called Racer Placers and jump in and help both the organization and neighbors when needed and all three of the horses are adopted. One horse was pulled from a kill pen, one was pulled from a starvation case, and one was a retired harness racer.

If there is extra money donated, it will be donated to Racer Placers, in Jefferson, WI that helps to retrain and rehome Standardbred harness racing horses when their racing days are over. The rescue has been challenged with the pandemic. See more at their website:  RacerPlacers.com
