Fund Oceti Sakowin Kitchen and more

Help us feed the water protectors all winter! We continue the effort to winterize the Oceti Sakowin Camp kitchen and food storage. The ongoing violence and chaos of the militarized police's actions have set us back. Our current fundraising goal is $10,000 for fresh produce, lumbar for expanded kitchen structures, and gas/propane costs to heat and cook. #gobeyondgiving

We are a group of committed volunteers of the official Kitchen Committee of the Oceti Sakowin Main Camp at Standing Rock. We are working together with native tribes and allies from across country to protect the Sioux's sacred sites, the region's communities, and the watershed from the threats of the Dakota Access oil pipeline. Our kitchens feed over 500 adults and 30 children each day, and we need your help to prepare for winter.
In September we raised $10,000 and installed 8 military-style tents along with 15 indoor heaters. This was a huge step forward. Before these new tents were installed, we were cooking in an open air kitchen with food stored in small personal tents. As the season began to change, the winds and rain made this impossible. Here we are in one of the kitchen tents.
Winter is coming! We are now moving the kitchen and food storage again into one huge arctic tent. The military tents we originally bought are being given to elders in the camp. Our current fundraising needs are lumber for storage structures and the purchasing of parishable, fresh foods. We also have to make purchases of propane and gas to cook food and keep the kitchen warm.
With even the smallest donations you can be part of this movement. While we will have spent long days and nights putting up tents ...

The next day when we can cook hot food for over 500 water protectors, we know this a labor of love.
