Did you know that 66% of all bankruptcies in the United States are due to medical bills?
My sweet friend Melissa and her husband Josh need help to continue getting treatment. Costs can add up quickly even with insurance. Doctor and hospital visits are expensive alone but add in medications and soon your buried in debt. The stress of deciding whether to buy groceries or pay a bill is real. Stress will always exacerbate illness. Your help is greatly needed. Lets wipe out the Clifton's medical bills!

Josh has diabetes type 1. According to the Mayo Clinic, despite active research Diabetes has no cure. It is a life long disease that can cause problems with internal organs, nerve damage and foot problems. In Joshua’s case, foot problems caused infection which led to an amputation from the knee down. Josh has been rushed to the emergency room on more than one occasion. The most recent trip led to admission to the hospital.
Melissa suffers from a collection of maladies that have been individually identified but have no one diagnosis. She has debilitating migraines which require bed rest, chronic pain which does not respond to medication and periodic weakness in her legs. At times her legs fail and she’s not able to walk! Melissa was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia at one time and got some relief from a medicine called Lyrica. Unfortunately, Lyrica is not covered by her current insurance. Since the Cliftons moved to Jacksonville she has been going to Mayo clinic. The doctors there have worked diligently to find an answer. For the first time she had a complete neurological workup and Multiple Sclerosis was ruled out. They take her pain seriously and have found cervical spine disk compression which will require surgery.
Josh and Melissa have two great teenage children. Their daughter Tori has a heart of gold. The first day I met the family Tori was joyfully pushing her dad in a wheelchair. Josh just had his surgery and had not been fitted with his prosthetic yet. Tori blogs and is fun to hang out with. Their son Wesley helps in the loft and runs the sound for ELVT, the youth group at our church. These kids are so resilient! Nothing seems to keep them down.

Here’s the bottom line. Each year they must pay a four thousand dollar deductible before insurance pays anything. After that there are still “co-pays” and “co-insurance”. The insurance year is about to end. They still have bills from 2019 and are now facing a new year with a new deductible. Right now they are living on one small income. The most amazing part of all this is they are still trusting God to provide. Some have given to help with their daily needs. Now we need a miracle to provide for their medical expenses. Please help my brother and sister in Christ! Be an instrument of God and donate to this worthy cause!
