Wisdom's Emergency Room Visit
Donation protected
Hello! Wisdom is a sweet senior cat who was diagnosed with diabetes shortly after being adopted from the shelter. For most people, this would have been more than they signed up for with a new pet and would have returned him to the shelter, but not for his new parents. They honored the promise of a forever home that they made to Wisdom and vowed to help him live a comfortable life for as long as they had the pleasure of him as part of their family. They took him to countless vet appointments, gave him insulin daily, and made sure to monitor his eating habits. He made friends with his new doggie sister and quickly made himself the king of the house greeting every new person to visit. After less than a year in his new home, he began having complications from diabetes. First, he became hypoglycemic after not eating enough food for the normal amount of insulin he was given and became very weak. His parents were able to revive him with some honey rubbed on his gums, but this was quite a scare for them. Just a few short weeks later, he became hypoglycemic due to an unknown cause and had to be rushed to the emergency vet. He has had a multiple-night stay at the emergency vet and has a feeding tube, though has begun to use the bathroom on his own again. His parents are hopeful that he can come home in the next day or so, but he isn't out of the woods yet. They had to give a down payment of $2,500 just to admit Wisdom to the emergency vet and were quoted $4,000 - $5,000 for the number of nights that he has already spent there, which increases with every night he has to spend. His parents have already gone above and beyond for him and haven't asked for any help. His mom, Victoria is an incredibly passionate pet lover who dedicates her days to caring for and finding homes for the homeless pets of Pittsburgh. She is always ready to help anyone in need and will surely appreciate any help we can give her in these uncertain times. They should only need to worry about Wisdom and not about money. Any help or even kind words would go a very long way. Thank you all!
