Funding for World Record Attempt

Donation protected
Trace Wiseman is a high school student at Christian Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, and an aspiring professional bowler who wants to set a world record at the age of 16.  He is the captain of his high school bowling team and he participates in youth bowling leagues and tournaments regularly. You can find him on the lanes about 4 or 5 days each week, typically at Kingpin Lanes in Louisville, KY. He has been approved by Guinness World Records to attempt to break an existing record along with his father, Steve Wiseman, who is 69. Both are avid bowlers and have demonstrated the ability to break the record through results in practice sessions lasting up to 12 consecutive hours of bowling.

The existing record is for the highest pinfall in 24 hours by a twosome. In order to have a Guinness official on-site to witness the event and to present the award at the conclusion of the 24-hour attempt, the cost exceeds $7000. Other expenses include the cost of the actual bowling, charges by the bowling center (including wages of employees) to remain open for 9 hours when they are ordinarily closed, payment for independent scorekeepers and witnesses, publicity, t-shirts, banners, advertising, etc. The event will last 24 consecutive hours and will require payments for substantial help from others who are not related to or affiliated with the bowlers. Part of the money will be used in publicity and advertising to create and build interest in the sport of bowling.

Bowling is a sport that is gaining momentum in high schools and colleges across the nation as well as in the professional arena, but greater awareness and interest would promote and enhance growth of the sport for family-friendly recreational bowling, middle and high school programs, college scholarships and professional sponsorships. The International Olympic Committee even considered making bowling an olympic sport last year and may reconsider it in the future.

Your donation to this cause will not only help Trace achieve his goal, but it potentially will generate greater interest in a sport that will help to get many kids involved in bowling and promote the sport of bowling in educational institutions. If excess funds are received, we will use them to promote bowling in creative ways locally and beyond, funding programs that will achieve greater involvement by youth in bowling.

We greatly appreciate your generosity and will provide regular updates in the future to keep you informed of progress towards these objectives. And, by the way, our record attempt is scheduled for April 22, 2017, at Kingpin Lanes in Louisville, KY.
