My 21st birthday wish

Hello, my name is Janiya Taylor and this year for my 21st birthday I am asking for help to financially finish nursing school.

On November 28th, 2022, I began the LPN program at Carrington College after graduating high school early in 2020 from Cibola High School and graduating with my associates as a Medical Assistant from Brookline College in 2021. I have always prioritized my education with my future plans to become a Nurse Practitioner and receive my MSN by 2026-2027 and peruse a career as a family Nurse Practitioner.

I have progressed through my current nursing program with a 3.0 GPA average, with only 7 months left to go while working full time (12-hour shifts) as a Patient Care technician at Presbyterian Hospital and Lovelace Hospital throughout my first and second semester. While, attending school Monday- Friday 8am -5 pm along with 12-hour clinicals on Thursday's. I have been threatened to be disenrolled from the program due to lack of sleep before a lecture or clinicals due to only receiving 30 minutes - 1 hour of sleep. Due to late shifts, along with it being hard to maintain hours at work due to management being unable to accommodate my school schedule.

On August 11th, 2023, I was unfortunately brought into financial aid when they informed me that I was only given $26,498.00 from FASFA and left with a balance of $6,158 ($3079.50 for the remainder of second and third semester) with my program being $32,656. I was given the option to make payments of $300 a month or be forced to take an academic break while also being informed that I am not allowed to work 6 hours before a class and 8 hours before clinicals. I have maintained rent, food, transportation and school supplies and adding $300 on top of the costs is unfortunately not an option for me.

So, for this birthday I am not asking for anything materialistic just with the blessing to help finish my education and to be able to serve all of you and your families with health and long lives. If you feel it in your heart to help, I promise it will be a true blessing when I cross that stage in 2024.
