Anthony’s growing medical bills.

This page is created with love by the family and friends of Anthony Frank Spagnola IV, a life long resident of Lyndhurst, NJ to assist with the many challenges he faces ahead. A unique individual with a great sense of humor, 32 year old Anthony is a tough cookie with a big heart who comes from a strong, loving family. He honorably served his country as a Marine Corps Veteran (2008 -2012). His tours of duty included serving in Iraq and Iwakuni, Japan where he received a Humanitarian award for aiding the people after the tsunami. Anthony is currently a Police Officer with Kean University. He was recently recognized and received commendations for his selflessness, saving several lives during hurricane Ida.

On August 3rd Anthony went to the hospital for a diverticulitis flair up and was released with medication. After weeks of dealing with chronic pain and no relief Anthony was rushed back to Hudson Regional and was immediately taken into emergency surgery due to septic shock. While the surgery was successful Anthony’s state continued to decline requiring him to remain on a ventilator. Following the surgery Anthony has been fighting multiple infections, a partially collapsed lung, oxygen desaturation, severe pneumonia and lung damage leaving him in critical condition. He has endured blood dialysis, defibrillation and a tracheotomy. Anthony’s health wasn’t progressing and came to a stand still where he needed more care. Thankfully, on 10/13 a team of doctors from Montefiore Medical Center (Bronx NY) stepped in, hooked him up to an ECMO machine and transferred him to their care where he is currently being treated. While the road to recovery will be long and arduous we are seeing signs of improvement and we pray he keeps progressing. We are hopeful and know that Anthony will beat the odds and show us all how strong he is.

In an effort to ease the burden of the rising cost of the medical treatments he so urgently needs we are reaching out. Any contribution will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in saving Anthony’s life. As a man who loves his country and is dedicated to serving others, he is very special and much loved.
