Emergency Medical Bills and Travel Costs

Dear A.B.O. Comix Family,
A few years ago, one of our elderly and disabled contributors, Jeferson de Souza, was deported without warning from the US back to his birth country of Brazil. He was left stranded there with no contacts, resources, financial assets or place to go. Miraculously, he found two friends, Anelise and Miguel, who became his chosen family and helped him survive. Our dear friend Jeferson has since passed on, but his caretakers are still in Brazil struggling to make ends meet in a country that was left devastated by the pandemic.
Recently, Anelise has fallen severely ill and is in desperate need of emergency medical care. She has already had a course of chemotherapy and several sessions of radiotherapy, but is in need of treatment for a pulmonary embolism (blood clot) in her lung that will cost $1985 US ($9725 BRL). Her doctor says she needs five months of heparin treatment in order to treat her illness.
Even while sick, Anelise was still trying to work but has recently lost her income. We are attempting to fundraise for emergency medical bills for Anelise as well as travel costs ($780 US) and any other funds we can raise for living expenses.
Thank you so much for your help. Once we are able to get Anelise in good health, we will continue work publishing the many books Jeferson has left behind in this world to honor his legacy and make sure his story is not forgotten.
Love and solidarity,
