K9 Kait's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
K9 Kait who has served with the Chelan County Regional Justice Center for the last 2 and a half years is currently facing some medical issues. Kait was recently diagnosed with Imerslund-Gräsbeck Syndrome (IGS), which is related to a Vitamin B12 deficiency. IGS is treatable with vitamin supplementation and medication. However, Kait has also developed an issue with fluid building up in her abdomen. At this point, it is unknown what is causing the fluid to accumulate. Kait is under the care of an amazing team of veterinarians both here in Wenatchee and Spokane. Kait is scheduled for a procedure later this month to determine the cause of the fluid, to get Kait back to full duty. Depending on the outcome of Kait’s procedure, we will either have a complete diagnosis with a treatment plan or the need for further diagnostic testing.
Those that have had the opportunity to meet Kait, know that she is one of the sweetest and most loving dogs that loves serving her community. Kait is not only a key component to CCRJC’s Drug Interdiction Program, but she is a fellow Corrections Deputy, a partner and friend, and a family member to Deputy Lewis and his family. Kait is a beloved member of CCRJC and deserves the best care and opportunity to get back to her normal self.
Due to the multiple vet visits, CCRJC has started to exceed both the annual medical budget and emergency medical savings for Kait and is asking for the public’s help in raising funds to cover Kait’s growing medical expenses. Kait is a loyal and loving dog that has had a significant impact on the jail and community. We are grateful for the continued support from all over the world, and we thank you for being a part of #TeamKait.
