Help with lost wages and monthly expenses

Hi, my name is Angela. I am starting this gofundme for my sister, Lindsey and her husband, Jason while they navigate the financial hardship of terminal prostate cancer.

Lindsey and Jason were married in 2014 when living in northern New Hampshire. Lindsey was a transplant to the state and Jason was native. Four years after their wedding, in 2018, Jason was diagnosed with metastatic castration-resistant adenocarcinoma of the prostate. Lindsey and Jason stayed in New Hampshire and traveled nearly two hours regularly to see doctors and receive various treatments. Last year in September 2022 Lindsey and Jason moved to Greenville, NC to be closer to Duke University (still a 2 hour commute) where Jason is finishing up a treatment that was only offered there. This treatment has not worked the way they were hoping and there is only one possible treatment option available.

Thankfully Jason’s life has been prolonged thus far but the financial hardship it has caused is crippling. Jason is unable to work due to his compromised immune system and overall health at this point. Lindsey has always been extremely hardworking and has continued to work throughout Jason’s treatments.

Unfortunately, between gas costs to and from Duke University for appointments, medication costs, multiple ER visits due to the complications Jason is now experiencing and missed time at work, there is far less than enough money for them to survive. Lindsey does not get paid time off until she has been at her job for a year. So all of the hospital and doctors visits are lost days of pay. There is no money for Jason to travel to New Hampshire to see family and friends as he continues to deal with more pain and more complications.

Jason and Lindsey’s time together is getting shorter with each day. The stress of that knowledge, combined with knowing they cannot afford to pay for gas to get to appointments, let alone get Jason to New Hampshire at least one more time, is unimaginable for me. I would love to help lessen the weight of that worry for Lindsey and Jason both.
