Here is a short behind-the-scenes video on the making of the vision sequences in our show:
Our story:
After creating our debut Facebook Live show 'The Tell-Tale Heart' last month (which received great reviews and an award from OffWestEnd.com), we decided that we wanted to do another one.
'WITHIN' is a play that I (partly) saw at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019. I was performing in a play called 'The Castle' up there at the time, and my fellow cast member, Joseph Furey, showed me the first half of his one-man show called 'WITHIN'. I was eager to see it, as I was to leave Edinburgh by the time he opened the show for the final week of the festival. This preview performance took place in the living room of our accommodation and it left a lasting impression on me. It struck me how engaging the piece was, despite not seeing it in an actual theatre setting.
Jumping forward to after 'The Tell-Tale Heart', I knew 'WITHIN' would be a perfect follow-up show to do from our home, having seen Joseph's living room performance. I also felt that the themes in the play suited the current times, where we have all felt the sting of social distancing and isolation, some much more than others. I got in contact with Joseph, who kindly handed over his script and his trust to me and my team, along with his fantastic original sound design, brilliantly brought to life by Millie Webber as the voice of S.U.E.
With the help of my bother, David, behind the camera and my girlfriend, Stephanie Van Den Driesen, who operated the sound, lights and other special effects, we have tried, again, to present as professional a production as possible, under the current circumstances.
Understanding the difficulties many of us are currently going through, we have decided to stream this show for free. However, we are kindly asking everyone who has seen it to please 'pay what you can' - however much that may be.
Take care and stay safe :)
