Medical Expenses for Remi

Hi, my name is Kimberly and I am looking to help my friend Lora in assistance with medical bills for her fur baby, Remington. Remington is an 11 year old spaniel mix.

We think she was playing with her puppy brother who bit her while rough housing. The wound got infected because it wasn’t seen due to her fur. It later became abscessed and the abscess burst when it was finally noticed.

She was taken to her primary vet and put on antibiotics, the wounds were cleaned and she was given fluids for dehydration since she stopped eating. She was sent home for the weekend since there is no weekend staff at the primary vet.

At home she would not take to syringe feeding, nor take the oral antibiotics. The wounds were getting worse so her mom took her to the emergency vet.

The doctors there had her on IV antibiotics as well as fluids. They did twice daily bandage changes in an effort to save her as she was critical at this point. At the midway point of the first week the ER vet said she saw improvement in the wounds and believed that continued treatment would heal Remi. However not completely out of the woods either when the culture came back that Remi had MRSA.

To date Remi has been at All Pets Emergency Vet for 3 weeks. She is improving but still not home. She recently had surgery to close the wounds but she still needs continued treatment to watch the wounds and drains to be sure we don’t go backwards in her progress. At this point we are not sure when she will be home. She has been there for 3 weeks. Any amount of money big or small would be greatly appreciated as her parents are both police officers and the medical bills have now arose to around $12000. Thanks to everyone in advance.
