Stop Elder Abuse. Help my grandparents recover

Hi my name is Yvette Garcia and I am setting up this Gofundme to help my grandparents recover some of their lost money. I know this is something that sadly happens very often as fraudsters continue to target the elder population but I wanted to bring to your attention that these elder abuse scammers are getting bolder. This past Friday my grandparents were scammed out of $6000 cash.

My grandparents received a call from someone claiming to be a grandchild, who they claim was recently involved in a car accident and needed money too avoid going to jail. The story goes on as the caller gets emotional and is crying to disguise their voice and they ask my grandparents not to tell anyone as they don't want to alert anyone they are in trouble. While the scammer is "crying" on the other line, my grandpa is unable to make out the voice but says is that you JR, to which the scammer replies yes it's me JR.

The crazy thing is that the scammers sent someone to my grandparents house here in Houston, not once but twice to collect cash. Sadly, my grandparents drained their bank account thinking they were helping out their grandson. This is money they desperately need to survive and pay their bills. My family is barely finding out about this last night as my grandfather, who is 90 years old, called my brother, the grandson the scammer claimed to be and was asking how he was doing after the accident, to which my brother had no idea what my grandfather was referring to. My brother immediately called my dad to tell him he thought my grandfather got scammed.

My grandparents are heartbroken, devastated and in pure disbelief over all of this and I don't want someone else to fall victim to this.
