Savannah Mathis graduated from Plant High School Class of 2018 with a GPA of a 5.0, a current Nursing student at HCC, and a future Florida Gator student. She was an All-American girl who wanted to spend her life serving her community as a nurse. Her presence alone would brighten the souls of everyone around her, she truly was a beloved angel. Everyone she encountered loved everything about her; her smile would light up the whole room. On December 1st, 2021, this beautiful young woman filled with pure innocence was brutally gunned down as she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her car was riddled with bullets and crashed after the shooting. She loved her family, friends, and God more than anything. She was the light of the family, and now our light is dimmed because of this devastating act of gun violence. I know this is and will forever be a shock to anyone who knew her. She was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, goddaughter, godsister, cousin, and friend to many and now everyone’s sense of normal has become unnormal and unfamiliar. Senseless criminals make this happy world we supposedly live in become a dark place. Their cruel acts of violence leave an indescribable pain on the victims’ families. We are accepting donations for multiple purposes, mainly to supply the needs of gun violence awareness and carry on Savannah’s hopes and dreams of opening a daycare center. Her passion for childcare was ignited when she worked for several of Bright Horizon’s childcare locations. Help us carry on her legacy of uplifting the community and providing care for the future generation. #JusticeforSavannah #FlyHighSavannah
