Hello friends and family, a little background story, into the fundraiser for our wonderful mother.

These last couple of months have been difficult to say the least.

In February she was diagnosed with myelofribrosis, a rare blood cancer. Our mom started her journey for a stem cell transplant. Little did we know in less than a month everything would change. On March 12th my mom fell and couldn’t get up. In less than a week, she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a rapid progression of her first diagnosis. Her MRI showed a spinal mass and she was diagnosed with acute paraplegia, paralysis below the waist. 3 months in the hospital, 3 rounds of chemo, radiation, multiple transfusions and in hospital complications she was discharged on June 2nd. A recent biopsy showed leukemia cells still present and an MRI shows it has spread throughout her spine, which she got another round of chemo and 12 days of radiation. Along with the cancer diagnosis and paralysis she has needed to adapt to a life in a wheelchair and requires continuous care.

With her continuous day to day care and twice weekly appointments and her fragile state her doctors thought it best she not go back to work.

Our little brother has stepped up and showed up more than ever moving back home to care for my mom. Our dad, is doing his best being a husband and provider, but with everything it’s all been a transition for us as a family especially my beautiful mom.
