Defibrillators to Save Lives
Donation protected
Ilene Guzzi and I are reaching out to our community to raise funding to help put defibrillators in our parks and recreational locations, that our children use on a daily basis.
Defibrillators save lives!
When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, the chance of survival falls by 10% every minute without action. However, with CPR and the use of a defibrillator within 3 minutes, the chance of survival could be as high as 70%.
Our parks and recreations facilities do not have access to this equipment, currently. This will allow us the capability of providing life saving defibrillation that will increase the survival probability if someone suffers cardiac arrest or a heart attack.
All funds will go to the purchase and maintenance of 7 defibrillators that will be placed at our parks and recreational locations:
~ Conway Park
~ Sorrentino Park
~ Thorne Park
~ Valenzano Park
~ Franklin Lake
~ Ronan Shirvanian Park
~ Wall Street
These devices will be beneficial to our children, community and everyone that visits our beautiful parks.
Some additional information:
- Sudden cardiac arrest is the leading cause of death in the US ~ claiming more than 325,000 lives each year.
- For every minute that goes withour the use of an AED, chance of survival decreaces by 10%.
-70-80% of all witnessed cardiac arrest could be saved with an AED.
- Approximately 6000 individuals under the age of 18 have cardiac arrests due to cardiovascular disease that goes undiagnosed, of that 82% occur during physical exertion per the American Heart Association.
Our plan...
1- Raise the funding
2- Finalize the WLB AED plan (working alongside several community departments)
3- Provide a training/information session for community.
4- SAVE LIVES
