Yorkshire Three Peaks for It's Our Day charity
It's Our Day is a charity set up to hear and listen to the voice of the young. It seeks to understand what pressures they are under, the challenges they face and the stress this brings.
I joined It's our Day in Jan 2023 and the team have quickly become my family away from home. Our free-breakfast club provides hundreds of students each Saturday with a sense of community and belonging that can be difficult to find at university (as well as top notch lasagne).
I am so grateful to have met Theresa, Jen, Olwyn, Holly and everyone else who works with It's Our Day, a charity which makes a huge difference to the wellbeing of so many students in Leeds.
It's Our Day is close to my heart as I have seen how important it is to support young people's mental health in a way that isn't overbearing or 'shoved down your throat' which can be off-putting. It's Our Day offers wellbeing advice and support in a safe, relaxed environment, prioritising primary prevention over crisis intervention.
We will be walking 24 miles on Sunday 28th April starting at Horton in Ribblesdale, taking in: Pen-y-ghent (height 694m), Whernside (height 736m), lnglebrorough (height 723m), hoping to finish within 12 hours, but expecting aches and blisters.
Any donations would go a long way!
