Woburn United Methodist Church: Building Restoration Fund
Donation protected
The Woburn United Methodist Church is more than "a church." We at 523 Main Street are a community resource that partners with local community groups and agencies to provide support, friendship, recovery work, training, food sustenance, and spiritual guidance. People entering our doors meet friendly faces and warm welcomes seven days a week.
In our church home, anyone who crosses our threshold can find continuous support in the following ways:
- English, Portuguese, and Haitian Creole-speaking worshipping communities
- "The Dwelling Place" no-questions-asked hot meal program and ample groceries three nights a week
- Four AA meetings a week to find and maintain sobriety
- Free English classes, job skills training, cooking seminars, and clothing and diaper drives for newly-arrived immigrants
- A weekend drop-in center with social activities for adults with developmental challenges/disabilities
- "Woburn Welcomes" community group meetings and events
- Community kitchen and meeting spaces
In addition to this work, we regularly lend our church home to various community events such as social justice vigils, student and Scouting group meetings, holiday celebrations, collection drives for residents in need, vaccine clinics, and much more. We truly aim to be the example of inclusion in Woburn that promotes love thy neighbor in word and deed!
We are politely asking for your help to repair and restore this 135-year-old building that hosts so much for our community. Our goal is to raise the $300,000 needed to fix long-term water and termite damage that has caused the back wall to sink into the foundation. To date, the church has done $150,000 worth of construction to rebuild and raise part of the foundation, shore up the structure, and install a new sill beam. Now we need to make the shoring permanent and finish fixing all the damage to the building both inside and out. Our architect and contractors estimate it will cost an additional $300,000 to complete this project and we need our community's support to complete this restoration project. Will you consider making a donation to help continue all of the great work that goes on in our building?
