Wolseley Winter Wonderland

Dear Friends;
The Wolseley Winter Wonderland Parkway along the Assiniboine River is a smashing success. It is a collaborative venture of neighbours helping neighbours for the common good. We acknowledge it is owned by none and yet, we know in our hearts, it is owned by all. We exist independent of the WRA, but we enjoy mutual support and collaboration. It is indeed a grand triumph and does our community proud.
The Wolseley Winter Wonderland committee is a group of local residents who have bonded over Zoom and skating rinks. We share a common vision of a fun, inclusive, dynamic, family-oriented river trail which promotes health, creativity, respectful interactions between neighbours, and affordable recreation opportunities for all in the community.
Our tag line is "It’s not a one year wonder" meaning, we want to maintain and enhance the parkway for years to come. We have no shortage of ideas, but we need your support. Our first goal is to improve accessibility at all public access point between Omand’s Park and the Maryland Street Bridge. Presently, the Arlington Street and Aubrey Street access points offer the best accessibility but neither are friendly to people with mobility challenges. And speaking of mobility, the closest wheel chair access is located at The Forks. We can do better, we must do better.
We ask for your financial support to purchase materials for improved accessibility, reimburse out of pocket expenses for volunteers, purchase communal shovels, install sand stations at key points, and to build on the strength of the organic nature of our beautiful Wonderland. Our goal is (gulp) $5000.
For more information, or if you would like to join our rag-tag group, please contact any of the below mentioned or visit our Facebook page (coming soon).
Yours sincerely;
