Woman Farmer’s Cancer “Perfect Storm”
Donation protected
Trina lives in Hawaii on the north shore of Oahu on an off-grid blossoming small "pasture fed" egg farm. She's been hit by an overwhelming confluence of events all at once - we call a cancer "perfect storm".
During the pandemic's start, a lump was found in Trina's breast, but her doctor suddenly and unexpectedly died, which led to a critical deadly delay in her breast cancer diagnosis. The cancer had moved too quickly, and she has begun "double-radiation", "double-chemo", and after her last chemo will need to undergo double radical mastectomies. Besides the usual radiation and chemo, very difficult side effects, infection has set in. Then to top it all off, after beginning radiation, (as if the doctors warning that the treatment may kill her wasn't enough), her favorite hen, her little friend, and "best egg-layer “ was killed right on her porch, right in front of her, by a loose neighbor's dog.
Despite all that is happening to her, she keeps a cheerful spirit and continues to provide the community with the highest grade of healthy eggs anyone can find. Her dream is to grow her flock and provide more to the farm's income, and her birthday wish (February) is to get back into wild bird rescue by raising another group of orphaned baby birds as soon as she is able. She has already successfully raised and returned to the wild, four baby birds last year and completed an online rescue course. Her family's income, like many north shore residents, has been devastated by the lack of tourists (they ran a kayak tour business) and Trina can't work for obvious medical reasons - even if there was work to be had.
Let's all pitch in and at least make her world more certain - and ease the strain of worrying about the present - so she can focus on recovering and the next (the surgical phase) of treatment which takes six months of recovery if all goes well.
Our goal is to provide her needed expenses of $1500 a month for the duration of her life-saving treatments, so she can continue to serve us with locally sustainable food, and serve nature by caring and raising those of us who are the smallest and weakest, that can't help themselves.
Our secondary goal is to have enough left to buy her 40 more healthy and happy hatchery supplied chicks (which come with inoculations to protect her present flock) to grow her farm and income as she repairs the "storm damage" to her life. Thank you for caring about someone you don't know - but we know you'd love her if you did!
The need is not only important but urgent, please donate today! Before pressing “continue” when donating please press “other” to enter “0” so Trina will receive 100% of your donation!
