Women for Women
Any cursory research on women in Bangladesh brings to light, crimes such as such as Rape, Child Marriage, Domestic Violence, Dowry and Sexual Harassment.
Problems faced by women are exacerbated by socio-cultural barriers which in general prevent them from participating in economic actives which create further challenges in accessing financial resources. Gender inequality and stigma continue to persist, as illustrated by research from renowned organizations such as The Asia Foundation .
Ever since the onset of the pandemic, BacharLorai has taken a need-based approach in the fight against COVID-19. Whether it was providing food and motivation to our doctors or supplying oxygen cylinders to our hospitals , the movement navigated effective ways to help our healthcare heroes in their struggle to save thousands of lives every passing day.
We're aiming to secure funds for the women in the slums of Korail, as a stepping stone for tackling the larger issues highlighted above. The women of Korail are in dire need of supplies for themselves and their families. As we enter the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic we plan to provide a week's worth of food and sanitary products to at least a 100 families in Korail.
The groundwork will be done by Female Empowerment Movement (FEM) & Resource Coordination Network Bangladesh (RCNB). We hope each and everyone of you recognize the reality of these women in the slums and join in our attempt to better their everyday lives.
Those residing in Bangladesh can support this cause by sending in their donations through bKash to 01648177474, with the reference - 'women' .
Please send a text to the same number to confirm your contribution.
The packages distributed per family by FEM & RCNB will include:
