WOMEN OVER FIFTY FILM FESTIVAL CAMPAIGN

We are WOFFF - a short film festival showcasing work by and about older women.

We tackle the lack of roles for older women in front of the camera and behind it.

We inspire younger audiences to re-think ageing, and see creative potential in an invisible demographic.

We create an accessible film community through workshops, panel events, lectures and networking events centred around older women's lives.

WOFFF tours a Best of Fest programme in pop-ups, community spaces and mainstream cinemas in UK urban and rural areas. The tour takes in over 20 UK venues, including elder-care residential homes, bringing award-winning short WOFFF films to the farthest reaches of the country.

We've been screening films and championing older women since 2015 , but there is still so much change to be made and equality to be worked for. It can be harder to get any work in the film industry as a woman; it's often harder to get films made as a woman; it's can be harder to have your films seen as a woman. And of course women are paid less than men.

WOFFF also champions equality for all - especially addressing the unspoken fact that 41% of over 50's have hearing loss (Office National Statistics) so we aim to subtitle all our films as standard.

Social isolation and loneliness in older people is a real problem not just in the UK but globally. And the current COVID crisis has made these feelings even more pronounced today. Our COVID-safe DVD programme of WOFFF shorts takes films and activities to older people in elder care homes so that people who find it hard to experience film in cinemas just now can still enjoy and connect with films and WOFFF and each other in small social gatherings.

Support us in this valuable work and help us reach more people in more places with more films. We're grateful for whatever you can give us. And we'll use every penny to inspire change and make a difference.
