Women Rock, Inc.: Rebuilding Hope After Devastating Fire
Tax deductible
On the afternoon of February 17th, a devastating fire (KXII story: https://www.kten.com/news/texas-headlines/fire-breaks-out-at-sherman-charity-organization/article_fbd0d7a2-ed84-11ef-af2c-dff8e55fde43.html) broke out at Women Rock, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in the heart of downtown Sherman, Texas. What started as a loud pop from the back of our office quickly escalated, filling the building with smoke and then flames. By the time the Sherman Fire Department arrived, the damage was catastrophic.
Thankfully, no one was harmed, and we were able to salvage crucial patient files. However, the fire consumed nearly everything else (Herald Democrat: https://www.heralddemocrat.com/fire-rocks-women-rock-nonprofit-plans-for-the-future/) : our office furniture and equipment—computers, copy machines, program materials, educational resources—the tools our dedicated staff relied on daily. The building itself is a total loss, along with irreplaceable sentimental items that held the history of our work since 2010.
More than just an office, Women Rock, Inc. is a beacon of hope.
Since 2010, we've been dedicated to saving and changing lives by increasing awareness and early detection of breast cancer. We provide:
- Assistance for obtaining breast imaging and biopsies.
- Financial assistance for everyday life essentials during treatment.
- Survivor and caregiver support with fellowship in a healing, nurturing environment.
- Mobile and onsite breast health and cancer awareness education.
Our mission is to break the cycle of late-stage breast cancer and prevent the senseless loss of young lives to a disease with a 95% cure rate when diagnosed early. As our annual report clearly shows, we have aided thousands of residents of north Texas, and our impact is rapidly growing. (See our GuideStar profile: https://www.guidestar.org/profile/27-4402761)
The fire has left us reeling, but we refuse to be defeated.
We lost everything. We need to raise at least $50,000 to begin the process of rebuilding, a sum that won't even cover the full extent of our losses. While we have insurance, we've learned that our coverage is woefully insufficient.
We cannot afford to let this tragedy hinder our ability to deliver critical support to our community. We need your help.
Your generous donation will directly support our efforts to:
- Secure new office space. We have been able to temporarily relocate and office out of Roofing Solar Pros, but it's only temporary. We need a new home.
- Replace essential office equipment and supplies.
- Replenish our care package supplies.
- Continue providing vital services to those affected by breast cancer.
Every dollar counts. Every share matters. Please, join us in rebuilding Women Rock, Inc. and ensuring that hope continues to shine brightly in our community.
Together, we will rise from the ashes. Thank you for your compassion and support.
Sincerely,
The Women Rock, Inc. Team
