Empowering Women at Matturi & Wilberforce Community Centre

Isatu Barrie is the women's empowerment officer at the newly established Matturi and Wilberforce Community Centre in Kono District, Sierra Leone. She is working to empower women at the centre.

Wilberforce Community Centre is a new project starting up on the outskirts of Koidu Town in the district of Kono. Some of the families that live in the district have been relocated by mining activity to outlying villages. The children and young people are vulnerable to a pervading drug culture in an area where there is little or no support in diverting them from drug use. Our new community centre will help to fill that gap in their lives.
