Help us educate girls in Siem Reap, Cambodia about their sexual and reproductive rights and empower them to make educated choices!
Women’s Resource Center (WRC) aims to deliver informal educational workshops to adolescent girls and boys, families and schools on gender roles, gender equality and equity, harassment, menstrual hygiene management, and emotional support for girls.
Our project will include the following:
- Working with five schools in Siem Reap, we will provide 15 teachers/ school principals with knowledge on basic counseling skills and emotional support and tools to support girls during their adolescent stage of development.
- Provide workshops to 100 girls p on responding to gender stereotypes and roles, harassment, menstrual hygiene management.
- Provide workshops to 60 boys on attitudes against harassment and breaking gender biases.
- Provide workshops to 100 parents about girls’ safety, protection, prevention, and fulfillment.
Our project will also:
- Form a youth ambassador group of 25 young people (15 girls and 10 boys) and provide training on how to shift harmful gender norms and stereotypes in their communities.
- Organize a public event on International Day of the Girls to raise awareness and share information on the importance of breaking gender biases and on menstrual hygiene management.
- Organize Facebook Live sessions on where youth can talk about the importance of girls’ education, including gender norms and stereotypes
Since 2010, WRC has endeavored to provide women and young girls with the information and tools that have been culturally and socially denied to them within the Cambodian context.
We have done so by first establishing an information/support center that has become a safe haven for women in Siem Reap, where they are able access free, reliable and confidential information in regards to their personal rights, reproductive health, as well as referrals for mental health support, counseling, medical support, addiction recovery, financial empowerment, among others.
Please consider helping us in the mission of empowering young girls and women in Cambodia by donating what you can today. If you can’t donate or want to go the extra mile, please consider sharing this campaign with others in order to help girls have a life full of opportunities.
