Woodsy vs. Covid
Donation protected
As some of you may know, our good friend Warren Woods -- Woodsy -- contracted COVID-19 in early December. He has been battling the virus and its effects at Regina’s General Hospital ever since.
Woodsy has a long and difficult road ahead. He will face ups and downs, but he is a tough old boot. We are creating this Go Fund Me to help Woodsy with his medical needs and help him focus on the the physical therapy he will require over the next year.
And we want to ensure he gets there with your support.
Woodsy won’t likely be fit for microphone service just yet. He’ll have to stick to watching sport for a while rather than talking about it. To that end, we want to make sure he has as much financial support as he can for as long as he needs it.
Perhaps you know Woodsy through his long and storied career as a sports broadcaster and knew him with a curly mullet back in the 1980s. There isn’t a play he doesn’t remember!
Maybe you’re part of the country-wide network of curlers who have taken to the ice to yell “hurry hard” and share a few beers with him afterwards.
You could be one of the friends who are down in Puerto Vallarta, soaking up the rays, lying on a Riders beach towel, toasting the sunset with him away from the bitter Sask winter.
Or you may have sat on the bleachers with him at Taylor Field, analyzed the latest move by the Green and White and downed a Pil as they finally look like winners again.
Maybe you know him through his love of the Toronto Maple Leafs and actually are old enough to say you saw them win when you were kids together!
Or you’re the one he curses next to when he misses the hole on the green at the Royal Regina and pretend you didn’t hear when he says he’s taking a mulligan!
There are so many ways people across Canada call Woodsy a friend.
Whatever way it is, we hope you’ll find some time to send him a note and a financial donation for the medical costs he will incur, so he’ll be back by your side doing what he loves.
