Wooldridge MO Fire took it all, Trying to Recover

My name is Jessica McComb. Our family just experienced unexplainable loss in the fire that took Wooldridge, MO on 10/22/22. As I type this, it is surreal to even be on this platform for this reason. I am not even sure where to start, as this whole thing has been so painful. Unfortunately, as the dust settles, our new reality is sitting in that we have to start over. We lost our beloved dog Olaf and two doves, Speckles and Tux. That has been the most emotionally challenging part of all of this. Our new life for the last three days has been a blur, and we are doing our best just to breathe. We are treating our animals for burns. One of our goats got hit the worst and was on fire at one point. He is doing a bit better, just not out of the woods. Everyone we encounter has been asking how to help, and it's just been minute-by-minute needs. I can't express how hard it is to tell you what we need tomorrow when today is hard to figure out as it is. First, we focused on getting the animals secured and fed. Then we worked on clothing and essentials. Now, it's everything else that involves starting over. I can't express how thankful I am to have a community that came to our aid immediately. These are special people. After our news got out that we were the only family with children and the only family with animals that were lost, many expressed their desire to help across the nation. We couldn't be more grateful for all the calls, love, and support from inside and outside of Missouri. Honestly, it's unbelievable. We set up this account for those who have it in their heart to give. I want everyone to know we are able-bodied parents. We still have our jobs, and we will be able to stand again someday, but for now, we appreciate every single bit of help. Until you lose everything, you don't realize what you have, and this is the case. We received information that insurance will not cover most of what is in the home because of the setup in the circumstances, unlike what we thought. This was a huge blow, but we will be okay and get through this. We have no choice but to. Blessing to all that lost as we did in the worst fire in Missouri.

Please keep in mind we have no "goal" here other than to start somewhere.
