Word Play Cafe @ BRC 2024

Greetings Burning Man Family:

We are past the halfway point between last year’s monumental burn and Burning Man 2024 which means it’s time to get to work!

We have an ambitious agenda for 2024 and are cooking up plans for Black Rock City for both another year of relaxing word play in our dome and two new projects that will allow us to bring the fun out of our camp!

This year, Word Play Cafe will be debuting a Mutant Vehicle as well as a team of puzzlers called Word Nerds who will roam the city on foot carrying trays of our signature games and Word Play Cafe SWAG for all to enjoy.

Our vehicle, “Fun Across ” will offer paper games from our observation deck and game show style group games at many of our stops. You’ll be able to spot us from afar by our crossword grid siding and bright white lights.

We are repurposing a base vehicle at a very reasonable cost and have an in-house team capable of all the required work. Still, a Mutant Vehicle is expensive to build. We also need to costume the Word Nerds, build and fill their trays, and restock the dome with print outs, pens, stickers and other daily supplies.

So, we are asking for your support in bringing all of this to That Thing in the Desert that we love so dearly. Truly any amount you can provide helps us get closer to our fundraising goals.

You’ve already seen us Bring It, kicking ass over the past two years and creating a place like no other in Black Rock City. In that spirit, we know that with your support we can level up Word Play Cafe to a multi-disciplinary project giving us the opportunity to share our word games with all of Black Rock City.
